My thoughts on "I'm Sick Of Pretending: I Don't "Get" Art" By Glen Coco

Oh, this is definitely art. As the word and its meaning is vastly elusive and forever under investigation. Yes, context I suppose is the outward deciding factor. Intentions, being more inward (and in most cases usually remaining inward) sadly being a distant second if at all. ALL art is art. Whatever art may be. The art will be measured by a group in relation to another group and thus is its value and its confirmation. From Thomas Kinkade to Jeff Koons. They all have an audience that approves and disapproves. Based on both artist's works they have very similar motives.

I recall doing a paper on Jeff Koons that included excerpts from his custody battle with La Cicciolina. Koons position was that she was unfit to have custody. Pointing out her background in pornography and using specific pre-Koons pornographic examples. Such as La Cicciolina with a python between her legs. Nothing of there whimsical, dare I say pornographic collaborations.  I found this to be a very insightful look into this artist's intentions. Value measured by dollars and lack of sense. Sensational Art that gives depth to the banal and of course the superficial. Strangely enough, I actually do like some of Koons work. Now, lets celebrate, drink wine, beer, cocktails, party, twerk.
