Vomiting Whispers Cast Like Stones In A Southern Californian Landscape.

Our friend Nasser Pirasteh was fined $10,000 and ordered to pay $1,143.57 in administrative costs. For an installation titled “In Out” located at the front of his property in La Jolla.

Some places are so far removed from art and culture that they won't even allow art in your home. Trumpians, building walls with the hope of making everything the same again. Well, it’s actually just those annoying bad apples with the small heads and the big mouths. Trying to impose their colorless, shades of mediocrity on the rest of us. And in certain cities these deficient criteria are enforced. For the sake of it. We can’t have everybody just a buildin’ sculptures and installations all over our fine city. Why, there would be art everywhere and all of our sacred lines would be crossed. Culture breeds liberals and things that stand out. It would seem, the only way these San Diego officials and judges know how to generate money from ‘fine’ art, is to tax and fine artists. Literally, up to $250,000!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Nasser’s beautiful home in La Jolla, CA. It does stand out, beautifully! As many of his less rigid, invasive, neighbors would attest. During our conversation, people were coming by offering their support and appreciation of his work. Apparently, neighbors and locals from all over the community, were coming and writing messages of encouragement. Especially, the local youth! I wonder if the minority critics and judges opposed to this installation think Laguna Beach is an eyesore? Maybe, too too ethnic? Meanwhile, championing Westfield malls and other track developments. Where everything looks the same. Exactly the same! Beyond just the suburban landscape. Ironically enough, adobe, Spanish tile rooftops are the skirt of the land. A cowboy, utilitarian aesthetic no less. A proud complement to the popular local Marlin, Mermaid, dolphin, cherub, and of course, wood-carved American Indian sculptures. No permits for these Home Depot monstrosities required.

I never could understand how people can take so much pride in mediocrity. And at the same time have so much to say about nothing…

Nasser Pirasteh’s piece is a sculptural installation on his own property. The judgement on this is deliberately subjective. If you are an advocate of art and culture please show Pirasteh your support! Lets draw the line on rulings like this and move minds and bodies not art.

Some actual comments from the San Diego Tribune and The La Jolla Light. These people really do exist…Who knew? That Idiocracy wasn’t just a movie but a prophecy.

San Diego Tribune:
“Everybody thinks they are above the law.. Oh those rules don't apply to me! Just like the clown who put his art work on city property”

A commenter on La Jolla Light called Pirasteh an “egomaniac” who built a “Tijuana brothel” in his front yard. “Now hopefully he will be fined the maximum allowed and his poor neighbors won't have to look at this property value demotion anymore,”
