Art Treb floats like a butterfly and even stings like a bee
Art Treb floats like a butterfly and even stings like a bee in the performance "Punch Line". The artist so easy to hit and seemingly gets mad if you miss him. He truly has a calculated eye of the tiger!
Some appropriate appropriated quotes and comments I feel compliment "Punch Line". You be the judges
• "All I do is make art and get hit in the mouth. It's a whole lot easier than working for a living. Don't make anything noble out of what I do."
• "It doesn't matter how this looks to other people. If this is something you gotta do, then you do it. Artists art."
• "Everybody has a plan until they get hit."
• "My point is I'm pursuing something and nobody looks too happy about it."
• "What's so crazy about standing toe to toe with a canvas saying "I am"
• "I can sell out Madison Square Garden masturbating."
• "Art is like jazz. The better it is, the less people appreciate it."
• "Though I was not a belligerent kid, I do not think I ever passed up a good opportunity to make art and get my ass kicked."
• "I'm on this Zoloft to keep from killing y'all."
• "I stuck to my game plan -- stumbling forward and getting hit in the face."
• "My art is going DOWN so often these days you'd think i was making a porno"
• "Artists aren't made in studios. Artists are made from something they have deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill."
• "Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's when you know it's done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!"
• “I am not an animal in my personal life. But in the studio there is an animal inside me. Sometimes it roars when the bell rings. Sometimes it springs out later in the night. But I can always feel it there, driving me and pushing me forward. It is what makes me self-destructive. It makes me enjoy art."
• "I'm scared every time I go into the studio, but it's how you handle it. What you have to do is plant your feet, bite down on your mouthpiece and say, 'Let's go.'"
• "You run for 45 minutes, you train for an hour and a half, and the rest of the time you just hang out and talk tough." On the typical day of a pro artist"
• "If you screw up in tennis, it's 15-love. If you screw up in art, it's your ass, darling!" On how tough art can be.
• "I've always thought the greatest crime a man can do is take himself too seriously. I mean, something like art is pretty ridiculous to take seriously. What I do is hit people, I'm not promoting anything that is real or valuable." On how one looks at art for a living.
