Art Education & Synthesizing Bullshit

Art students need to have some idea what options they have outside of academia. Insight on how to navigate the synthetic social bullshit circuit of culture. Otherwise, we are looking at a lot more bad teachers who don’t really want to be there. At their best, they end up creating artist-selfies and spewing out like minded theorists (name dropping) #SuzanneLacy for example. Teaching social activism AS AN ART SUCCESS STRATEGY and a righteous white, upper middle class guilt killer. This is in part why art education is neglected and not taken seriously. SOMEONE, has to take it seriously!

Not all, but many of these educators are more eager to be recorded in art history than they are to teach it. As they practice to be something much more significant than just a working artist. Meaning, teaching and/or art is a distant second or third to the glorious vision of being an art star. Art education and the art world…Its all the same REAL WORLD shit wherever and whenever.
