Fallen Tree Exhibitions invites art enthusiasts, artists, collectors, press, curators, and patrons of culture, to check-in to the third unofficial art fair in San Diego! Hotels/Motels (Unofficial Art Fair 2017) presents emerging and established artists who are working in a wide-range of media and disciplines. Artists from all over San Diego and Los Angeles will transform hotel rooms into galleries, stages, and project spaces. In addition, to this carefully selected group of visual and performing artists, Hotels/Motels, will be joined by partnering artist collectives, contemporary galleries, and cultural organizations. Each of their rooms will embody a unique life of its own that reflects the design of the artist and curator.

The event will launch on the evening of December 15th in North Park, with an opening night celebration, and will continue all day Saturday, December 16th.


In the spirit of renaissance, the 2017 Hotels/ Motels will return to San Diego, where the inaugural exposition was held. In 2000, we occupied the Motel 6, and then surfaced again at the downtown Travelodge in 2003. Before the urban redevelopment, downtown was a vibrant arts district, comprised of galleries, artist studios, and art centers. It was an exciting time for the arts and Hotels/ Motels was a significant addition!

With the launch of Hotels /Motels 2017, we hope to contribute to the revitalization of San Diego’s burgeoning art scene! This event will generate excitement and restore demand for contemporary art and culture in San Diego. Fallen Tree Exhibitions promises to create a stimulating and very intimate exhibition environment for art lovers, artists, and patrons. Participants will engage in thought provoking experiences, form meaningful relationships, and create new opportunities. The checkout time is up to you! Artists, voyeurs, join us, in this unprecedented, unofficial art fair!
